Schlumberger announced today at the annual meeting of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists that it has acquired AOA Geomarine Operations, LLC (AGO), a privately owned company. AGO provides pioneering marine controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) and marine magnetotelluric (MMT) services for use in offshore exploration activities.

'Deep resistivity measurements are important in determining the presence of oil and gas accumulations particularly when used in association with other data sources,' said Dalton Boutte, executive vice president, Schlumberger, and president, WesternGeco. 'The acquisition of AGO will extend customer benefits by adding operational expertise, domain knowledge and technology to our current Schlumberger exploration service offerings.'

AGO, which will operate as a Schlumberger Company, will continue its operations under the ongoing leadership of Lionel Fray, AGO president and CEO.
