The IPerformer solution offers clients a dedicated network infrastructure that is flexible and can be tailored to a client's business needs. The IP-oriented, state-of-the-art architecture provides security and performance for business critical applications, such as real-time data delivery. 'Dedicated infrastructure has traditionally been an expensive option,' explains Andy Lucas, technology manager, Global Connectivity Services, SIS. 'However by using a private common architecture model, the IPerformer solution provides an affordable environment suited to a wide range of business traffic, including email, VoIP, data and video conferencing, connecting the client's remote sites and office locations in real time.' Where network deployment requires a minimum of capital outlay, the new IPresence service allows clients to share satellite bandwidth and terrestrial infrastructure in a secure and efficient manner. It supports voice and data services at a fraction of the cost of typical dedicated architecture systems without impacting either the integrity of the underlying technologies or most importantly, client data. 'Leveraging our understanding of the challenges facing the industry, we have developed a cost effective communications service that allows users to take advantage of the performance benefits of the latest VSAT technology,' said Lucas. 'This type of service is crucial for operators working in a mature field environment where rigorously managing day-to-day operating costs can deliver significant competitive advantage.' Schlumberger Information Solutions worked with iDirect Technologies to develop the foundation for the IPoVSAT services. iDirect Technologies designs, develops and markets satellite-based broadband access solutions.
