Axalto, a Schlumberger company, today launches the worldwide version of its MagIC X1000 DECT (digital enhanced cordless telecommunication) – a portable point-of-sale terminal for short-range PIN-based transactions. Based on the field-proven success of the MagIC X1000 DECT 1.9GHz, the new global MagIC X1000 DECT version will use a higher 2.4 GHz frequency, enabling it to operate in more countries worldwide. This latest version will be on the market before summer.

Ideal for businesses that need a short-range mobile payments solution such as restaurants and retail outlets, the new MagIC X1000 DECT guarantees top level security while enabling businesses to provide their customers with a convenient wireless payment option.

The DECT digital radio protocol has a well-proven track record in providing highly reliable and fast data communication. The compact and practical terminal has a range of up to 300m and provides businesses with a solution to carry out off and on-line card payments on the move, allowing customers to have complete control of their card during the payment process. The MagIC X1000 DECT can support a network of four handsets and two bases.

The new worldwide version of the MagIC X1000 DECT is Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) and Pin Entry Device (PED) approved and is also compliant with the latest global PIN entry security standards. MagIC X1000 DECT is fully compatible with all the other products of the MagIC Evolution range of Axalto.
