NEXT AND THE UNIVERSITY OF TULSA ANNOUNCE NEW MASTER OF SCIENCE IN PETROPHYSICS DEGREE PROGRAM

Students accepted into the new graduate program will first participate in NExT's rigorous Subsurface Integration Program (NSIP), which is held at the NExT regional training center, located on the University of Tulsa campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While participating in the NSIP program, attendees will also take two graduate-level courses from the university. Following the completion of the NSIP program, students will remain for one additional semester, taking two more courses, plus finalize their field study project report, which will serve as the Masters' project.

NSIP is a project-based 11-month program whose legacy stems from the Amoco 'Top Gun' Petrophysics Program that ran for more than 20 years at the Amoco Research Center in Tulsa. NSIP comprises more than 50 multidiscipline training and project mentoring modules that are taught by industry experts during the first several months of the program. Attendees are required to bring a complete reservoir or exploration data set and solve real oilfield problems by performing a comprehensive integrated field study with the assistance of NExT mentors.

According to Sunil Pangarkar, chief executive officer of NExT, 'The results of field studies completed in the program, when implemented, have shown clear positive financial impact for the participating companies. This is a unique training and mentoring program that has very strong business drivers.'

NExT has conducted the NSIP program since 2001, after obtaining rights to the program from BP. Applications are being accepted for the next NSIP class, which begins in September 2004. Participants interested in the degree program will need to apply to the University of Tulsa through the normal graduate school application process.
