MOBILE PHONE RAGE EXTENDED
19 July 2004 - Sagem Communication
| SAGEM, a major international player in the field of telecommunications, announces that it has delivered more than one million clam-shell handsets. |
SAGEM has extended its mobile phone range with form factors addressing the more mature and defined lifestyle demands of consumers. The clam-shell form factor is part of this strategy, protecting the screen and the keypad when closed. This compact design is very comfortable to use when open, allowing user-friendly access to all features and services. SAGEM has now delivered numerous products in clam-shell format for a period of more than a year: the myC-1, an entry-level mobile phone with a black and white screen, the myC-2 and myC2-2 mobiles with colour screens, and very recently the myC-3b: a handset with a ruby red and metallic cover targeting a feminine audience. The latter product is a real lifestyle accessory with its 'powder-compact' form-factor, antenna in the shape of a lipstick, mirror-effect window, and large screen supporting the latest multimedia features. There is also the myC-3: a black and metal version of the myC-3b. This 'myC' product line has mainly been launched in Europe, and SAGEM has already delivered over one million handsets, confirming the growth trend of these models. SAGEM will continue to extend its range in the second half of the year with more innovative form factors for the mid and mid high tier market segments. Those handsets will integrate more and more multimedia features such as digital cameras with zoom, reinforcing SAGEM's presence in numerous markets. 'We are continuously listening to the market, and the demand for different kinds of mobiles has led us to enrich our product range with both 'clam-shell' and 'slide' form factors. This strategy, which is shared with our Chinese partner Bird, allows us to address the increasing demand from consumers who are more and more interested in novel designs' says Thierry Buffenoir, Managing Director of SAGEM's Mobile Phones Division.
