FRANCE TELECOM & SAGEM ANNOUNCE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING DEVELOP SOLUTIONS FOR MOBILE PHONES

France Telecom and SAGEM announced today the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding, to jointly develop solutions for Location Based Services around mobile phones. This strategic partnership aims at designing, developing and deploying new revenue generating differentiated telecommunications services and products, through a deep cooperation between both companies.

The Memorandum of Understanding encompasses :

the setting of joined research and development teams,
the sharing of R&D funding,

a limited period of exclusivity to leverage usage through generalization
and the sharing of intellectual property resulting from the partnership.

For France Telecom, this partnership fits into its strategy to develop new and innovative services for its customers on mobile networks. It also marks the commitment taken by France Telecom to join forces with industry leaders in order to leverage resources and expertise and offer the best services to its end customers.

For SAGEM, this strategic partnership with France Telecom is an important step in its strategy to offer operators the best integration level of Location Based Services for mobile phones, in view of providing highly attractive applications for end users.
