LAUNCH OF SAGEM AXIUM FLAT SCREEN
23 September 2003 - Sagem Communication
| As a specialist of electronic and digital devices, SAGEM SA is now using its expertise to go even further in image technology with the launch of SAGEM AXIUM. This Flat Screen using DLP technology offers outstanding image quality coupled to an impressive size for a surprising price. It is an astonishing and appealing product. |
SAGEM AXIUM highlights the value of Home Cinema thanks to the entirely digital DLP technology, incredible image quality on a large screen with very high resolution and definition : one million pixels per colour. The 50-inch (127 cm) screen in the 16:9 widescreen format indeed benefits from both excellent brightness (500 cd/m2), which enables its use even in a bright environment, and breath-taking contrast (2000 : 1) resulting in deeper blacks, vivid colours and amazing depth. Moreover, the anti-reflective screen offers an impressive viewing angle. Lastly, the superior image resolution (1280x720 pixels), the use of Faroudja DCDi and SAGEM digital image enhancement processing contribute to create a spectacular image that brings TV viewers into another dimension... A complete and adaptable device, with a sophisticated design SAGEM AXIUM has a very elegant design, which, coupled to the ' table-top ' concept - optional co-ordinated furniture, makes it an item that fits perfectly in your home. It weighs 40 Kg, the depth is 37 cm and the height is 90 cm. Many attributes make SAGEM AXIUM an incredibly adaptable product with 9 video inputs (3 scart connectors including 2 RGB, 2 YUV, 2 CVBS and 2 S-Video), 2 tuners, 1 hi-fi output, 1 sub-woofer output, 2 PC inputs (analogue RGB and digital DVI), and the possibility to connect simultaneously 9 peripherals - DVD player, set top box, VCR, game console, high-resolution video tape recorder, camcorder, PC... The TV viewer can thus simultaneously watch two sources - for instance, TV on the left-hand side of the screen and a DVD on the right side, but also different TV sources thanks to the SAGEM AXIUM integrated double tuner. In addition, everything is designed to enable you to customise the image: - 7 display formats (4/3, 16/9, 14/9, cinema, sub-titles, scope, stretched). - 5 image control modes, including one user mode and 4 pre-set modes. - Selection of sources and image formats with one single key. - Picture in Picture and Picture and Picture modes. Thanks to DLP technology, the lifetime of SAGEM AXIUM is exceptional and prevents any device ageing or screen degradation, which guarantees no more convergence or screen marking problems, no more 'ghosting' on fast-moving images and no more colour degradation. The core of the system is a matrix of 1 million micro-mirrors that can tilt independently. Each mirror corresponds to one dot - or pixel - of the picture. The matrix, around 0.3 square inches (2 cm²), is illuminated by a light. The picture on the screen is created by the matrix when titling each mirror. This technology is entirely digital, which guarantees its accuracy and stability over time. Moreover, the micro-mirrors matrix is exclusively reflective and thus insensible to heat and therefore has an exceptional lifetime. Each mirror can switch up to 5 000 times per second and is as large as one fifth the width of a human hair. DLP is a trademark of Texas Instruments, Inc. DCDi is a trademark of Faroudja, Genesis Microchip, Inc.
