SAGEM has been contacted by AVIC1 Commercial Aircraft Ltd for the development and manufacturing of the flight deck control system of the ARJ-21 Chinese commercial aircraft. This contract represents a potential turnover of 200 million euros. The SAGEM flight deck control system will constitute the interface between the aircraft pilots and the fly-by-wire system. It will include all flight control subassemblies onboard the aircraft: columns, wheels, pedals and central console. The ARJ-21 will first be produced in two versions, a baseline aircraft with a seating capacity of 78 to 85 passengers and a stretched version covering a seating range of 78 to 105 passengers. A 'cargo' and a 'business jet' further versions will be developed later. The first flight tests will be conducted in 2005 and the first series produced deliveries will take place in 2007. This contract confirms SAGEM's know-how in the field of civil aviation and gives the company a leading position in the field of integrated systems design.
