SAGEM announced today the acquisition of LEICA VECTRONIX and LEICA TECHNOLOGIES Inc, the two companies involved in Optronics for Defence from the Swiss Group LEICA GEOSYSTEMS. The two companies employ 103 persons, most of them located in Switzerland. LEICA VECTRONIX, registered in Heerbrugg (Switzerland), is specialized in nightvision, portable reconnaissance and target designation equipment. The synergy in technologies (thermal imaging, light intensifier devices, Laser diode, digital magnetic compass) will enable Sagem to be well positioned to outfit the rapid deployment force. The product ranges of both companies are highly complementary. LEICA VECTRONIX's international network, which covers five continents, offers attractive sales prospects. These acquisitions will reinforce SAGEM's Optronics Activity for Defence and are part of the Group's development strategy. LEICA VECTRONIX and the USA located Sales Company LEICA TECHNOLOGIES Inc, record an annual turnover of about 50 MEUR. Over a quarter of it is made with the US Army and the operating result is amounting to 8 MEUR. Acquisition price is 40 MEUR.
