DOMESTIC CHP INVESTING IN MASS PRODUCTION
03 June 2004 - Cambridge Consultants
| Current predictions for the growth of domestic CHP in Europe to a mass market extend well beyond 2015. However, with investment in mass production and cost reduction, this could be achieved much earlier, possibly as early as 2010, yielding revenues in excess of €2bn per annum. Home-based cogeneration is a vital part of addressing both security of supply and environmental concerns associated with centralised power generation, as well as delivering cheaper and more efficient energy to individual households. |

Ian Halliday-Pegg and Johannes Hartick will be speaking at the Domestic CHP, Driving the Products to Market conference on Tuesday 8 June at the Thistle Charing Cross Hotel in London. The conference is organised by European Power News, Electrical Review and Electrical Times. The paper discusses investment in mass production for domestic CHP. In particular, how to achieve a mass market through cost reduction. The opportunities, challenges and areas for focusing investment are discussed briefly, as well as the importance of designing products that are attractive to the mass market. An approach to 'design for lowest cost product' is suggested along with some specific examples of how these approaches could be applied to domestic CHP equipment. Other speakers include representatives from equipment manufacturers, installers, housing associations, utilities and the Government
