ARCOM INTRODUCES DEVELOPMENT KITS FOR WINDOWS CE .NET AND WINDOWS XP EMBEDDED
02 May 2002 - Arcom

Ready-to-run implementations of Windows CE .NET and Windows XP Embedded are now available on Arcom's SBC-GX1 embedded PC platform. Arcom's award-winning Development Kit strategy has allowed customers to quickly develop and demonstrate Windows Embedded-based applications using a reliable reference platform. You don't need Platform Builder or Windows Embedded Studio to build an operating system image, you just download your application and go!

The SBC-GX1 Development Kit for Windows CE .NET offers Windows CE .NET pre-loaded on the resident 16Mbyte Flash drive. The operating system image includes a wide selection of the Windows CE .NET components making it ideal for developing content rich human-machine interface panels, kiosks and information terminals. The Development Kit bundles the SBC-GX1 single board computer fitted with 64Mbytes of DRAM, 8A PSU, mouse, full cable set, Quickstart Manual, a Development Kit CD and the Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 CD. An optional NEC 6.5' TFT color LCD module and analog touchscreen are also available. The SBC-GX1 is a 300MHz National Semiconductor Geode™ based processor board offering CRT/TFT VGA graphics, 10/100baseTx Ethernet, four serial ports, FDD/IDE interfaces, digital I/O and expansion via PC/104, standard PCI and a CompactFlash connector.

The SBC-GX1 Development Kit for XP Embedded includes a comprehensive build of XP Embedded pre-installed onto a 384Mbyte CompactFlash card. The Development Kit includes a selection of ready built images which are suitable for smaller, lower cost CompactFlash cards and applications requiring fewer resources. This means you don't need to use Windows Embedded Studio and Target Designer to start building powerful Windows Embedded applications. The Development Kit is offered with the Arcom SBC-GX1 embedded PC fitted with 128Mbytes of DRAM and an optional NEC 6.5' TFT color display.

'Developers are looking to simplify and accelerate the process of bringing smart connected multimedia devices to market,' said Keith White, senior director of marketing for the Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group at Microsoft Corp. 'Arcom's new development kits provide additional technology and services that enable developers to quickly and easily create full-featured, rich Windows CE .NET and Windows XP Embedded-based devices and applications.'
