FAST ETHERNET SWITCHPROVIDES KEY NETWORK TRANSITION
24 February 2005 - Harting
| The new ESC 67-30 TPO5U from HARTING is a fast Ethernet switch designed to
eliminate potential collision domains between network components and user
equipment in industrial applications. This new 'in between' Ethernet Switch closes the gap between the switch cabinet (IP 20 protection) and hostile industrial environments (IP 65/67 protection). The switch guarantees networking with other stations at the machine, in both line and star/line structures, providing an important
interface between these two areas. |
The new ESC 67-30 TPO5U from HARTING is a fast Ethernet switch designed to eliminate potential collision domains between network components and user equipment in industrial applications. This new 'in between' Ethernet Switch closes the gap between the switch cabinet (IP 20 protection) and hostile industrial environments (IP 65/67 protection). The switch guarantees networking with other stations at the machine, in both line and star/line structures, providing an important interface between these two areas. The ESC 67-30 TPO5U is a 5-port device which combines the Ethernet switch with a through-panel connection. The compact housing is mounted directly on the external wall of a control cabinet or a terminal box. Up to three IP 20 ports, with which Ethernet devices can be networked, are available for connection inside the cabinet, allowing Ethernet stations such as controllers, I/O modules, drives or service interfaces to be networked via the switch using standardised IP 20 patch cables. For networking outside the control cabinet, the device offers two Ethernet ports protected to IP 65/67. The new device supports both line structures in distributed systems (such as conveyors) and star/line structures which, starting at a switch cabinet, connect the other components directly in or at the machine. An integrated LED display area allows status information concerning the data communication to be viewed from outside by the machine operator during the production process. If there is a malfunction, these LEDs signal important information, which accelerates fault location within the plant. In addition, malfunctioning can be communicated directly to the control room or centre via an alarm contact integrated in the switch. The switch is integrated into a rugged metal housing with an IP 65/67 degree of protection. The compact housing has a base area of 105 x 105 mm and a height of 40 mm.
