INDEPENDENT RESEARCH FIRM EVALUATES EAI, B2BI, AND BPM CAPABILITIES OF 13 COMPANIES
29 July 2005 - Global Exchange Services (GXS)

GXS, a leading provider of B2B e-commerce solutions, today announced that it has been named a leader in the Forrester Wave for integration suite vendors. According to the just released Forrester Research evaluation of top integration suite vendors, 'The Forrester Wave: Integration Suites, Q3 2005¹,' GXS is positioned as a leading provider for enterprise application integration, business-to-business integration, and business process management integration suites.

'GXS is a longtime powerhouse in the B2B integration world,' stated report authors Ken Vollmer and Henry Peyret 'and it has entered the integration suite space via its strategic partnership with webMethods. This partnership is stronger than a normal partnership, in that it significantly enhances both vendors' integration offerings. GXS has a strong global presence that will become increasingly important as multinational firms attempt to increase the effectiveness of their application- and process-based interactions.'

The increasing demand for organizational process improvement continues to drive high levels of interest in combined EAI, B2Bi and BPM integration suites. Enterprises continue to place integration technology high on the purchase priority list. This priority reflects a business goal to improve process effectiveness through better sharing and reuse of key information assets. Comprehensive integration suites support this goal by providing the features needed to implement and manage integration efforts to enable more flexible integration across critical business processes. The three main categories of vendors that Forrester identifies as providing integration suites are integration platform vendors, application platform vendors and enterprise application vendors. Vendors were evaluated against approximately 125 criteria, which were placed into three high-level groups: current offering, strategy and market presence.

'We are pleased to have Forrester Research recognize GXS as a leading provider of business integration,' said Bobby Patrick, senior vice president of marketing at GXS. 'We believe GXS' position is a result of our commitment to provide solutions that combine deep integration within an enterprise, with broad integration across global trading communities. These solutions are helping customers realize new sources of strategic advantage from their supply chain, by enabling real-time information flow between business partners, such as retail stores, global suppliers, logistics providers, and financial institutions. Once integrated, our customers gain improved visibility and control, reduced costs, and improved business performance, such as lower inventory levels and higher sales.'

The Forrester Wave methodology was used to evaluate the offerings of 13 vendors. The Forrester Wave is a research graphic built on an open methodology and a straightforward algorithm that exposes vendor scores, key attributes, and weightings in an interactive spreadsheet. The Integration Suites were judged on the strength of current offerings such as process management, partner management, monitoring and reporting, and business rules; strategy which includes product strategy and vision, strategic alliances, executive vision and solution cost; and current market presence, the compilation of installed base, new customers, delivery footprint and financial viability.

GXS integration suite solutions are delivered as part of the GXS Trading Grid, GXS' unique global integration platform that enables and streamlines cross-enterprise business processes. Trading Grid is the world's largest electronic business community, used by more than 40,000 trading partners every day to exchange goods and services.
