MORE THAN 1000 COMPANIES USING GLOBAL EXCHANGE SERVICES AS2 OFFERINGS
13 January 2004 - Global Exchange Services (GXS)

Global eXchange Services, Inc. announced that it has more than 1000 companies that are experiencing the benefits of real-time communications with their trading partners by using various solution offerings from its comprehensive AS2 portfolio. Companies ranging from the largest retailers to the smallest suppliers can choose from a hosted, software, or hybrid AS2 option to address their specific AS2 needs. Clients using these services include: Pepsi Bottling Company, Swisher International, National Fruit Products, Inc., Koss Audio & Video Electronics, Bormioli Rocco Glass Company, Van Mar, Inc., and Hibbett Sporting Goods, Inc.

The Global eXchange Services AS2 portfolio includes both services and software.

AS2 Mailbox Service enables clients to connect to Global eXchange Services using the AS2 protocol and obtain the improved productivity resulting from this faster, more efficient connectivity option.

'By changing our connectivity at Global eXchange Services to AS2 using the AS2 Mailbox Service we now communicate throughout the day and address problems immediately. The decrease in communication session time provided by the speed of AS2 communications has resulted in increased efficiencies in our Distribution Center along with easier trading partner testing and implementation,' said Gayla Turner, EDI Coordinator at Hibbett Sporting Goods.

AS2 Outsourcing Service offers proactive, event-driven document exchange via the Internet with 24x7 server availability for synchronous communication in a hosted environment. This enables clients to comply with their trading partners' requests for AS2 communications without investing in the hardware, software or expertise they would otherwise need.

'Rather than take on the technical burden to establish an in-house AS2 implementation, we chose Global eXchange Services for its expertise and network strength to handle all our AS2 requirements. In addition to lowering costs, we avoid the risk of failed connectivity and losing precious orders,' said Tami Brown, EDI/VMI Coordinator at Swisher International.

AS2 Software Suite includes the Enterprise System AS2 add-on module for users of Global eXchange Services' supply chain integration platform, as well as the AS2 Comm Link software for small to medium-sized businesses. The suite comes pre-configured for both a variety of EDI translator packages and operating systems, and for trading partners, including Wal-Mart, Wells Fargo, Procter & Gamble, UCCnet GLOBALregistry(R), and many others.

'By using the AS2 Comm Link from Global eXchange Services, we have experienced a smooth implementation and the software runs by itself. As a result, we have been able to meet the requirements of our trading partners to trade directly over the Internet. Additionally, we can use the same AS2 Comm Link software to connect to Global eXchange Services to trade with the rest of our trading partners,' said William McArtor, Assistant Logistics Manager and Consumer Advisor at Koss Audio & Video Electronics.

'As the AS2 protocol continues to gain a foothold for communication among trading partners in the retail market, we have signed up a substantial number of companies of all sizes for an AS2 solution that meets their specific needs,' said Nick Marchetti, vice president of B2B Services at Global eXchange Services. 'The responses have been very enthusiastic, both from companies that have installed our AS2 software and from those who have chosen to go with an outsourced approach. Additionally, we are committed to providing solutions based on emerging technologies and are closely monitoring the updating of existing retail standards.'
