Agile Systems Inc., announced today they are shipping high performance IEEE-1394 Firewire interfaces with the MAX 3000TM series of integrated multi-axis controller / amplifiers. The Firewire interface option includes additional banks of opto-isolated I/O to enable full motion and I/O integration. Vision systems can co-exist on the same IEEE-1394 network. The IEEE-1394 Firewire interface allows an open architecture, robust, high speed and deterministic network solution for the MAX 3000TM product family. The MAX 3040TM includes a high-performance DSP motion and I/O controller integrated with Agile's core digitalPOWER Blocks providing the most compact distributed motion control solution available today (four 400W integrated amplifiers in a 3' x 5' form factor). Agile Systems has six patents in place and several more pending. The MAX 3000TM platform is utilized by OEMs in robotics, semiconductor automation and high performance machinery. 'We started with Firewire in 1997, the first to do so for motion control. The availability of Firewire on our high performance MAX 3000TM modules coupled with our advanced PVT modes gives machine designers a powerful solution ' says Kevin Steele, G.M. of Robotics & Automation for Agile. 'With IEEE-1394b (Firewire 2) solutions later this year, OEMs can take advantage of standard CAT 5 cabling or Plastic Optical Fiber solutions for additional noise immunity and electrical isolation.'
