FLAT PANEL DISPLAY ROBOTS BENEFIT FROM DISTRIBUTED CONTROLS BY AGILE SYSTEMS

Agile Systems Inc. announced that it has partnered with MEKAnize Robots Inc., to supply them with DigitalPowerTM for use in a Flat Panel Display manufacturing application.

This demanding robotics application requires a MEKAnize SR-Series robot to transfer glass panels from a vertical orientation on a shuttle to a horizontal orientation for processing. Moving back and forth on a direct-drive linear servo, the robot is equipped with a custom vacuum end-effector to ensure clean and safe transfer of the glass panels.

'MEKAnize's flexible design approach towards robots allows extensive modifications to be incorporated quickly and inexpensively to meet the exact needs of the customer, without compromise. Agile's distributed motion control technology is designed with the same custom-enabling philosophy which makes them a good strategic partner in helping us meet our customers needs', stated Steve Cowles, CEO of MEKAnize.

The MAXTM family of distributed motion controls, featuring a core technology known as DigitalPowerTM, integrates the motor amplifier with position controller and network interface into the smallest form factor yet demonstrated.
