23 June 2003 - Lantronix
| Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRX) today announced a partnership with Hilscher North America, Inc., a subsidiary of Hilscher GmbH in Germany, to provide network-enabling technology for the industrial communications market. As part of the agreement, Lantronix will discontinue offering the Hilscher designed and manufactured products and Hilscher will assume all sales and support responsibility. Lantronix began offering the Hilscher products in October 2001 as part of its acquisition of Synergetic Microsystems. With the combined expertise in industrial automation, the new arrangement is expected to enhance overall customer satisfaction and increase long-term business opportunities. |
'Turning over the sales and support of these products to Hilscher is one of the many steps we have taken to simplify our business. This action helps increase our focus on providing market-leading device management and remote access technology, while our partnership leverages the combined expertise of Hilscher's product and Lantronix technology leadership,' said Marc Nussbaum, president and chief executive officer at Lantronix. Under the terms of the partnership, Lantronix will focus on developing new embedded technology that will be used in several Hilscher offerings. Going forward, Hilscher will handle all sales, technical support, order fulfillment, warranty and inventory for the Hilscher designed and manufactured products. Lantronix revenue from Hilscher products averaged approximately $500,000 per quarter in fiscal 2003. 'This partnership is a win-win for both companies and our customers due to the efficiencies that are gained across Hilscher and Lantronix,' said Philip Marshall, chief operating officer at Hilscher North America.
