PREMISE HOME CONTROL SOFTWARE FROM LANTRONIX RECOGNIZED AS TOP WHOLE HOUSE SYSTEMS SOFTWARE PRODUCT
11 March 2003 - Invensys plc
| Lantronix (Nasdaq: LTRX) is proud to announce that its Premise Home Control Software version 2.0 product received the CEA 2003 Mark of Excellence Award. The Mark of Excellence Awards, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association's TechHome Division, recognize products and companies at the forefront of innovation and leadership in the TechHome industry, acknowledging manufacturers for their products and customer support programs. |
Premise software is the leading home networking and control software based on mainstream PC technology. The new version provides sophisticated digital media management, and controls the thousands of devices and services that can be found in networked homes and buildings. Premise software 2.0 was demonstrated in the 'IP-Pavilion' at the recent Electronic House Expo in Orlando, Florida, that featured network-enabled devices from a variety of manufacturers. Among the exhibits was a networked concept vehicle from Visteon, a tier-one automotive supplier, which uses Premise software to control its onboard systems and interface with home-based systems. 'Audio-video, lighting, security, and environmental control systems now run on the same mainstream ultra-high speed networks used in homes and businesses worldwide,' said Dan Quigley, executive vice president of Lantronix' Applications Division. 'The recognition by CEA is yet another validation of our leadership role and that the fully-integrated home will be based on open standards.' With Premise software's exclusive mSense technology, homeowners can select the type of entertainment they want, and the software renders them through the proper speakers and screens. Users no longer have to search for CDs or fumble with dueling remotes and complex commands. In addition, Premise software 2.0 supports a new class of digital media rendering devices. These 'network in, media out' products use the home network to significantly reduce the miles of speaker wire, complex switching and mixing gear required for a multi-room installation. Premise software synchronizes playback on these devices, so users enjoy all the benefits of a distributed media system at a fraction of the cost. The software also saves money by automatically matching energy usage with a family's daily lifestyle. From heating only occupied rooms to watering the lawn only when needed, a managed home can save hundreds of dollars a year in energy costs. For better security, Premise software ties together the elements needed to keep a home safe, including intrusion alarms and severe weather alerts. Users can monitor the security of their home, their family and even their pets from the office or anywhere in the world, because the system can be operated remotely through Internet browsers. The Consumer Electronics Association represents more than 650 U.S. companies involved in the design, development, manufacturing and distribution of audio, video, mobile electronics, wireless and landline communications, information technology, multimedia and accessory products, as well as related services that are sold through consumer channels.
