CONCEPT VEHICLE FROM A TIER-ONE AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIER AND THE NEXTGEN DEMONSTRATION HOME

'These demonstrations highlight SYS as an open-standards networking platform on which a wide array of home, office, and automotive control systems can interoperate,' said Dan Quigley, executive vice president and general manager of Lantronix's Applications Division. 'We have come a long way since last year's CES in terms of demonstrating real-world applications of the SYS technology, and showing the value and ease-of-use of networking in our everyday lives.'

Lantronix's SYS technology will network-enable a concept vehicle that will be displayed at the Visteon booth OS-3 in the Silver Lot at the main entrance of the LVCC. The networked vehicle will demonstrate the benefits of integrating an automobile's onboard systems with the Internet and a home network. The vehicle's dashboard control panel will activate thermostats, networked security cameras, lighting and consumer audio/video gear installed in a mock home that is built next to the vehicle. Also, it will use a fingerprint reader to identify and download the appropriate user preferences, personal schedules and digital media for a specific person, based on pre-programmed profiles in the system.

Lantronix's SYS technology will integrate all of the home systems that are incorporated into the NextGen Demonstration Home, an intelligent home that gives homebuyers an easily understandable way to command and control their environment, while enabling the flexibility to upgrade as technology advances and new interests emerge. Homebuyers can use a touch screen with real-time access or remote wireless accessibility via cell phone or PDA to control all of their home's management functions. The NextGen Demonstration Home has been built on the lot of the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas to demonstrate these capabilities. Lantronix will offer one-on-one demonstrations of its SYS technology at its presence in the Microsoft Partner Pavilion in the Central Hall. Coming from a user-interface perspective, these demonstrations will focus primarily on how OEM manufacturers can easily and profitably network-enable their products to respond to the rising customer demand for network connectivity.

At its booth in the Tech Home Pavilion, Lantronix will demonstrate a distributed media and home theater experience using the SYS technology along with the company's device networking solutions. The demonstration will highlight how Lantronix's device servers can be quickly and inexpensively integrated with current and future products to provide network connectivity.
