The press conference will be both on-site and online. Dr. Claudio Carrelli has been director of Eurescom since 1998. He was born in Rome (Italy), studied electrical engineering at the University of Naples, and has a record of 35 years of professional experience in research and development of communications technologies. Before he joined Eurescom, he worked as a managing director for international affairs at Telecom Italia. Since 1996, Dr. Carrelli has, furthermore, been chairman of the Information Society Forum, an advisory body to the European Commission on technological and social matters. Dr. Noll joined Telenor R&D in 1997. He is Telenor R&D Fellow, responsible for Wireless Mobility, co-ordinator for the beyond-UMTS co-operation with the Norwegian Technical University, and project leader of several Eurescom projects on future network technologies. From 1993 to 1997 he was staff member in the Electromagnetics Division of the Research and Technology Center for the European Space Agency. Dr. Noll studied electrical engineering at the University of Bochum (Germany). Mr Clemente's research activities include network capacity planning, the design and analysis of core transport networks and the planning of Next Generation Networks. He graduated in Electronic Engineering at the Politecnical University of Turin in 1994 and joined Telecom Italia Lab's Network Planning Department in 1995. He has worked in a number of European research initiatives, including projects within the Eurescom R&D programme and within EU-funded ACTS projects. Mr Clemente is a renowned author of conference and workshop papers in the area of capacity planning, planning tools, and new network technologies.
