NEW COUNCIL TO PROMOTE REGIONAL ADOPTION OF FIELDBUS TECHNOLOGY
23 February 2005 - Fieldbus Foundation

The Fieldbus Foundation, conducting its 2005 General Assembly in Vienna, Austria, today announced the establishment of a European Executive Advisory Council, dedicated to providing leadership of marketing activities supporting the adoption of FOUNDATION fieldbus-based products and systems by European automation equipment end users.

The new council, comprised of senior executives of European-based companies, will provide the necessary guidance, commitment and support to regional marketing strategies of the foundation tailored to the composition and culture of the European-served markets.

Dr. Gunther Kegel, president of Pepperl+Fuchs and acting chairman of the EEAC commented, 'The marketing of FOUNDATION technology has to reflect the cultural and economic realities of different areas of the world. Marketing strategies must be set up and financed which regionalize the approach of the Fieldbus Foundation across the globe.'

The initial participation in the EEAC is a veritable 'Who's Who' of European automation industry executives. In addition to Dr. Kegel, current members include Juergen Fuchs, ABB; Jim Nyquist, Emerson Process Management, Europe; Dr. Raimund Sommer, Endress+Hauser; Christopher Dartnell, Honeywell; Alain Ginguene, Invensys; Graeme Philp, MTL; Mick Grange, Rockwell Automation; Wolfgang Trier, Softing; and Harry Hauptmeijer, Yokogawa.

'We are very pleased and excited to have such a committed group of executives standing behind the promotion of FOUNDATION Fieldbus across Europe,' said Fieldbus Foundation President and CEO Richard Timoney. 'The technology has reached a level of adoption and maturity that requires focused initiatives in order to reach late adopters, and regionalization is a logical next step. This council will provide advice and direction to local marketing committees in each country on activities such as seminars, trade shows, training, advertising and general promotion of the technology. It will also help ensure sufficient human resources and funding to execute these initiatives.'

Timoney added that the EEAC will work closely with the Fieldbus Foundation's executive staff to integrate all European marketing activities with the organization's strategic vision and direction.

The EEAC will kick off its activities with a meeting at the foundation's annual General Assembly, to be held in Vienna, Austria, on February 23-24.
