Moog Inc. announced today that Hägglund Vehicle AB, located at Oernskoeldsvik, Sweden, has awarded Moog GmbH two long-term contracts for dual axis gun aiming systems. The contracts, with a value of approximately $12 million, call for the systems to be delivered beginning in September 2001 and continuing through 2005. The hardware will be manufactured in Moog's German facility. The systems will be used on Hägglund's CV9030 combat vehicles used by the Swiss Army and the Finnish Army. Originally built for use in the difficult terrain of Northern Sweden, the CV9030 is the latest generation of extremely agile, high-speed combat vehicles. Moog's electromechanical hardware will allow the tank's weapons to be fired even while the vehicle is traversing rapidly through extremely rough terrain. Previously, tanks had to stop before they could lock in on their targets and fire. Hägglund's CV9030 is considered to be the world's most technically advanced combat vehicle,' said R.T. Brady, Chairman and CEO. 'Winning these contracts is a tribute to the expertise we've attained in building high precision electric controls for the military vehicle business. Moog is actively pursuing far-reaching applications for derivatives of this next-generation hardware.'
