US ARMY AVIATION & MISSILE COMMAND IN ALABAMA AWARDS COMPANY CONTRACT FOR PITCH TRIM ACTUATORS

Moog Inc. announced today that the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command in Redstone, Alabama has awarded the Company a long-term contract for pitch trim actuators. The initial order, with a value of $7.5 million, calls for the actuators to be delivered beginning in 2001 and continuing through 2002. Subsequent orders could follow-on through the year 2005 and could result in as many as 750 units with a total potential value of $27 million. The contract award solidifies Moog's previously published sales forecast of $682 million for fiscal 2001.

The Blackhawk is a multi-purpose aircraft that serves as the Army's principal tactical transport helicopter. With a cruising speed of nearly 200-mph, the high-powered chopper has been adapted for medical evacuation, command and control, reconnaissance, special operations, search and rescue, electronic warfare and general utility missions. There are approximately 1,500 Blackhawks in service in the United States and over 200 in allied countries. They first went into service in the 1970's with uprated production continuing through 1999.

'This contract award reflects the Army's commitment to readiness and its intention to fly the Blackhawk for a long time to come,' said Robert T. Brady, Chairman and CEO. 'It also reflects our ability to respond quickly to the DoD's aftermarket needs.'
