Moog Inc. announced its qualification to Level 3 of the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model for software. The rating, a key discriminator and a requirement for some new business pursuits, followed a rigorous five-day audit of the Company's engineering and support activities and of representative flight critical programs. Funded by the Department of Defense, the Institute was established to provide leadership in advancing the practice of software engineering. They developed their model and assessment methods to measure predictable process performance and product quality, as well as variation from desired levels of performance. Integrated Systems Diagnostics, an assessment organization based in Pocasset, MA, led the audit. Their representatives reviewed program-specific objective evidence and conducted interviews to determine the final ratings. The combined assessment covered all engineering activities of a program life cycle from requirements through final delivery. 'We're pleased with this achievement. It underscores for our customers that the quality of the products and support that we deliver every day is at a world-class level from pre-contract requirements development through integration, test and deployment,' said R.T. Brady, Chairman and CEO. Moog is a worldwide manufacturer of precision control components and systems. Moog's high performance actuation products control military and commercial aircraft, satellites and space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles and automated industrial machinery.
