Echternach, Luxembourg – GE Fanuc's interactive software, Manual Guide i, has been upgraded to offer new features and further enhance ease-of-use. Designed to increase the productivity of milling, turning and compound machines by providing powerful shop floor programming capabilities, it is supported by a PC-based simulator package which can be used for training and for demonstrations of Manual Guide i functionality. Part programs generated on the simulator can be transferred electronically to a GE Fanuc Series i CNC. GE Fanuc Manual Guide i software increases machine tool operators' productivity by providing an environment that enables development from a drawing to a production part in a very short time. The latest version of Manual Guide i offers a number of improvements. This includes simultaneous comprehensive displays of data and programs in multi-path turning applications on GE Fanuc Series 30i/31i/32i CNCs, more efficient cutting cycles, better tool management, clearer guidance and new manual and automatic measurement function including angular measurements. Other recent Manual Guide i enhancements include the management of programs by folder and file name, the direct editing of part programs in memory, and animation in the background which allows simulated testing of the next part program while the machine tool is carrying out its current operation. 3D simulation helps reduce the time for part program checking and virtually eliminates errors. Manual Guide i Simulator, running on a standard PC using a WindowsŇ 2000 or WindowsŇ XP platform, simulates Manual Guide i running on any of the latest GE Fanuc Series i CNCs. It provides a training tool, it can be used in the promotion of a machine tool, and it can be used to teach machine operators. It allows editing of part programs, data entry for cycle machining in menu form, machining simulation and NC program conversion.
