A FACILITY CONSTRUCTED BY NNE NOMINATED FOR PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

| The 14,000 square metre NovoSeven facility in Hillerød, Denmark, designed and constructed by NNE for Novo Nordisk A/S, is among the finalists in the nomination of Facility of the Year Award 2005. |
The submission criteria state that the award will be given to a company that designed, built, or renovated a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical or biotechnology facility. The manufacturer's winning entry will be considered the 'global leader in facility engineering'. Winning projects must be facilities where the occupants work in a safe and productive manufacturing environment, and the facility must apply new or innovative technological solutions. The candidacy of the NovoSeven facility is based on the following features: • A facility built as a fast-track project in 18 months by use of modular engineering, which included comprehensive parallel construction of independent process modules and off-site testing of each process module.
• An integrated plant for mammalian cell fermentation, recovery and purification.
• A facility designed to support the fast track modular approach.
• A facility that meets an undefined demand for a life-saving drug by including a modular designed, expandable production area.
• A facility characterised by simplicity and transparency to ensure a safe working environment.
• A ground-breaking facility that initiated a modular area in pharmaceutical engineering with customised solutions for the benefit of the life science industries. The NovoSeven facility was commissioned and handed over to Novo Nordisk for technical approval in November 2002. The award is sponsored by the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, INTERPHEX Conference & Exhibition and the Pharmaceutical Processing magazine. The winner will be announced during the INTERPHEX exhibition which takes place from 26 - 28 April.
