NNE BUYS ALK-ABELLÓ'S ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

NNE A/S and ALK-Abelló A/S have entered into an agreement to the effect that ALK outsources its engineering tasks to NNE as of 1 November 2004. The tasks include work within development and support of ALK's production, primarily in Hørsholm.

The agreement comprises NNE's acquisition of ALK's Engineering Department. The majority of the department's employees will be hired by NNE and, together with these employees, the responsibilities for carrying out the engineering tasks are thus transferred to NNE.

- Today, ALK's Engineering Department is of a size that falls below the critical capacity necessary for matching the requirements and complexity that characterise the pharmaceutical industry and thus ALK's daily operation, explains Executive Vice President Flemming Steen Jensen, ALK-Abelló. - We are solving the problem by signing this outsourcing agreement which gives us easy access to NNE's extensive knowledge, know-how and resources and, at the same time, the costs that until now have been fixed will fluctuate and thus be project-related in the future.

- The agreement provides for a close cooperation between ALK and NNE, says Hans Ole Voigt, president of NNE. - And this is in keeping with NNE's strategy to be close to its clients. This is the first agreement of its kind but we hope that more companies within the life science industry will recognise the advantages of outsourcing their engineering services to NNE.

The employees who are transferred from ALK to NNE will still be physically located at ALK-Abelló in Hørsholm.
