NNE'S BUSINESS ABROAD IS GROWING
13 May 2004 - NNE A/S

NNE's strategy of basing its future growth on projects outside Denmark seems to be bearing fruit. The recently established subsidiaries in the U.S., France and Sweden are growing both in turnover and number of employees, and the construction of a plant for Novo Nordisk in Brazil also provides work for NNE employees, both in Denmark and in Brazil.

NNE now expects its turnover outside Denmark to reach approx 100 million Danish kroner in 2004 - distributed on more than 25 clients in 10 different countries and on a number of project services, ranging from consultancy assignments over automation systems to interdisciplinary capital investment projects.

In the U.S., the order book is full, with work both for a Novo Nordisk facility in North Carolina and with work for other clients.

In France, NNE has been contracted to deliver a major part of the engineering services for Novo Nordisk's expansion of site Chartres currently in progress.

Also the Swedish employees are being kept busy, and this is an example of how it is possible to establish a subsidiary in a region where the client base does not include Novo Nordisk.

In China, NNE is in the process of obtaining approval from the authorities for expanding the business geographically after having provided services for a number of years to, in particular, Novozymes. During those years, NNE succeeded in expanding its client base in China.

In 2002, NNE employees working outside Denmark could be counted on one hand and in May 2004, the count of employees working in the subsidiaries totals approx 40. This is a very promising picture as the subsidiaries need to reach a volume soon, essential to cover the long-term professional and technical needs of spanning the markets both widely and deeply. If the current development continues, NNE will in 2006 have more than 100 employees working in subsidiaries outside Denmark.

The current expansion into the international markets is prompted by a situation where NNE's largest client Novo Nordisk plans to place a larger part of its future investments abroad, and furthermore, NNE has during the past year proved that its services are attractive to the international market - based on its strong position in the Øresund region and on our subsidiaries.

NNE is busy also in Denmark. The biggest projects in progress in Denmark are the construction of two analogous insulin plants for Novo Nordisk in Kalundborg and the establishment of a smallpox vaccine facility for Bavarian Nordic. Add to this a large number of smaller engineering projects for more than 50 different clients.

NNE's 825 permanently employed staff are at present assisted by more than 300 external consultants in carrying out the many assignments.
