Can Habib, currently the sole employee of the Geneva satellite of NNE is not only a little proud of the award recently won by his company. It is the '2005 Facility of the Year Award' given by the principal representatives of international engineering companies in the pharmaceutical industry. The award ceremony was held during Interphex, the most important pharmaceutical conference that took place in New York.

The award is for the 14,000 m2 NovoSeven facility located in Denmark. It was designed and built by the life science engineering company NNE. The winning facility was chosen among 28 exceptional pharmaceutical facilities from five continents.

Let us remember that NNE has just chosen Geneva to establish a Swiss satellite. This former division of Novo Nordisk, the world's leading producer of insulin, has its own legal personality since 1991. This allows it to work for groups like Serono, for example. In fact, NNE did a three dimensional model of the expansion of the facility in Corsier-sur-Vevey for one of the contractors. The size of its contracts varies largely from one client to another. For Pfizer, NNE directly built numerous facilities and research and development laboratories. For Ferring, it was simply consulting services. With its 1200 employees, 75% of which are engineers, NNE is number 3 in the world in engineering in life sciences. 'The Swiss market is very important in view of the high concentration of companies active in this sector' indicates Can Habib. His company targets first and foremost the biotechnology industry, hence the choice of Geneva rather than Basel. As for recruitment of colleagues, 'that will depend on future contracts'.
