EXTENDED FUNCTIONALITY OF THE NYCE SYSTEM WITH NY3522 AND NY3542
14 June 2002 - Nyquist Industrial Control

Nyquist Industrial Control (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) introduces two new members of its NYCe3000 family. These new products, the NY3522 and the NY3542, can control 5 and 10 axes respectively. The control is fully synchronous and because the modules have a comprehensive I/O functionality, an IEEE 1394 network link, and PC/104 expansion options, the system can be used for a wide range of purposes.

Their modularity and flexibility make the NY3522 and NY3542 the ideal platform for OEM and system integrator applications. The underlying system architecture combines Windows-based PCs with real-time Motion Control. The PC is connected to the Motion Controller via a standard FireWire IEEE 1394 network. This architecture optimises the use of PC technology while at the same time the amount of machine cabling is significantly reduced. The product also allows for standard PC modules to communicate with higher-level systems via Ethernet, Profibus and so on.

By linking several NY3522 and NY3542 modules, it is possible to control up to 64 synchronised axes. NYCe's extremely comprehensive Application Programm Interface simplifies the programming of motions and the complex interactions between the axes that these entail. The installation, configuration and programming tools are all part of the NYCeLauncher toolkit. Among other applications, these tools allow for easy tuning of the axes and for the realisation of kinematical controls.

About: Nyquist Industrial Control
Nyquist has a long and rich history. A history that goes back to the beginning of the early seventies, when the company was still part of Philips. Since then, the organisation has played a pioneering role in the field of high-quality Motion Control systems, VME and PLC machine control platforms.

The foundations for the present-day company Nyquist Industrial Control were paved in the seventies. This happened when the first standardised servo system was developed, initially created for Philips' internal machine building. This led to a large international installed base, both within and outside of our own organisation. For instance, the doors of the Dutch Railways' trains are still fitted with VME-based control systems from Nyquist. And then just think of all the automatically opening bridges, traction systems, trams, machines for making glass moulds, embroidering machinery, pastry-making machines, ships' terminals, incinerators and water purification plants.
