EXTREMELY COMPACT TWIN POWER RELAY OFFERS AUTOMOTIVE DESIGNERS REDUCED WEIGHT & INCREASED FUNCTIONALITY
Aimed at the automotive industry, the Hongfa HFKA twin relay from specialist distributor Switchtec offers design engineers the opportunity to save space and weight in a myriad of remotely operated, power switching applications in vehicles. By incorporating two completely separate, high performance relays in one compact package, the result is a device that doubles up on functionality but occupies the space of a single relay. With a footprint of 15.4 x 14mm and a height of 13.5mm, the diminutive PCB relay has two sets of contacts, each able to switch currents up to 30A, with a 25A motor load rating. Factors driving the demand for this type of relay are the automotive industry's hunger for higher performance, greater reliability and smaller size. The HFKA twin relay from Switchtec will find favour in applications such as power windows and doors, central door locks, sunroofs, seat adjustment, and wiper control. The relay's insulation resistance is 100Mohms and it has a maximum operation time of 10mS. A wide operating temperature range of -40 to 85ºC is accommodated. Although the relay operates from a standard 12V system, a low pick up voltage version is available that 'picks up' at 6.5V. Similarly a reflow-soldering version is available.
