PROXIMITY SENSORS OFFER EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE AND LOW COST FOR A WIDE RANGE OF APPLICATIONS
A range of sensors from specialist distributor Switchtec bring high performance and competitive prices to any application where proximity sensing is required. The X-Sensors from Infra comprise inductive, thru-beam, area and contrast sensors and are aimed at OEMs and also end users in the packaging industry, for use as security devices, for product line management and in automotive applications. The devices use solid state circuitry for a quick response time making them ideal for counting applications. The X-sensors 'thru beam' range offers easy alignment and high contamination immunity for potential use in 'dirty' applications. The devices are not sensitive to impact or vibration, making them immune to spurious signals. Comprising a receiver and an emitter, the combination is able to operate at up to 4m apart. Exhibiting ruggedness and reliability, the sensors are able to operate over a temperature range of -15°C to +50°C, have short circuit protection and feature an anti-vandal clamping mechanism. Inductive sensors in the X-Sensors range comprise amplified sensors operating at a nominal 10 to 30VDC, utilising 3-wire connection in a robust metal housing. The units operate over a switching distance of 2mm in shielded form, and 4mm in unshielded guise. All units offer high anti-shock and anti-interference performance, long life operation and are available as cable or M12 connector models. Short housing versions are available. The X-Sensors cross beams sensor comprises a nine-beam transmitter with microcontroller designed to operate with the matching receiver unit by infra red port, no need for wiring between TX and RX. The set has nine true beams and 72 cross beams, and pitch detection can be as low as 2mm depending on object shape. No complicated alignment procedures or setting up are required and a distance of up to 6m can be accommodated. With the X-Sensors, Infra has redesigned and improved the internal components of its sensors to provide a range that offers excellent performance at a competitive price.
