Invensys plc made a number of announcements today. These demonstrate that the company is surging ahead on its new strategy focused on providing customers in the process, hybrid and discrete manufacturing industries with innovative solutions to help them achieve greater resource productivity.

Invensys announced today:

An alliance with Microsoft Corporation to create intelligent plant and business solutions that will give customers real-time visibility in their production operations
The companies selected to participate in the Foxboro CFT50 Digital Coriolis flowmeter challenge.

Formation of the Centre for Hydrocarbon Business Innovation.

Wonderware InTouch(r) HMI software support for Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Operating System.

Enhanced Field Device Tool-based software for the I/A Series system supporting HART and other intelligent field devices.

Highly secure, fault-tolerant FOUNDATION Fieldbus modules for I/A Series.
An agreement with Stratus Technologies to offer Invensys customers Wonderware software support of the high-availability Stratus(r) ftServer(r) via offerings built on the ArchestrA software architecture.

A free online 'test drive' of ArchestrA technology using Wonderware FactorySuite Aý products.

A meeting at ISA of customers, process manufacturing companies and industry analysts to discuss next-generation plant production management solutions.

Invensys-Microsoft Alliance
The alliance will drive a new generation of Invensys solutions to provide manufacturers with real-time visibility in their production environments and supply chains. It combines Invensys' strengths in process and manufacturing applications and expertise in key industry segments with Microsoft's platform, technology and enterprise products.

The cornerstones of the alliance will be provided by more strongly linking Invensys' ArchestrA architecture with the ongoing evolution of Microsoft .NET and Microsoft's Windows Server System. The ArchestrA architecture provides a common foundation for industrial automation and information solutions and can effectively integrate with all disparate systems in a production environment.

One customer already benefiting from the Alliance is the South African division of SABMiller, one of the world's largest brewers. Using Invensys Wonderware offerings built on ArchestrA and additional Microsoft technologies, SABMiller is reporting significant cost savings from reduced engineering time and reuse of objects, ease of integration and interoperability with other systems, and overall flexibility.

Foxboro CFT50 Digital Coriolis flowmeter challenge

Earlier this summer Invensys asked process engineers to serve up their toughest, most demanding and seemingly impossible Coriolis mass flow metering applications to see if the award-winning, Foxboro CFT50 Coriolis flowmeter was up to the challenge. Invensys is announcing the challengers and their applications at the show. The Foxboro CFT50 Coriolis flowmeter, which won 'Best of Show at last year's ISA expo, has the unique ability to measure flow rates in the presence of two-phase flow (liquid/gas).

Invensys Centre for Hydrocarbon Innovation

Invensys is bringing together leaders in the Hydrocarbon industry - including upstream, downstream and chemical companies - to serve as a catalyst for change and to consider how future oilfields, refineries and chemical plants could be designed to better serve the industry. The Centre will be led by Dr. Calvin Cobb, who heads Invensys Global Hydrocarbons Consulting practice and include industry leaders, academics, analysts, trade media and senior officials from trade associations.

Wonderware InTouch HMI Software Support for Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Operating System

Wonderware InTouch human machine interface (HMI) software is the first industry-leading HMI that provides support for Windows XP Tablet PC Edition Operating System. InTouch software is designed for industrial automation, process control and supervisory monitoring environments. Deploying InTouch on a Tablet PC will enable customers to increase their mobility throughout their environment while maintaining control of their processes.

Enhanced I/A Series system support for HART intelligent field devices

Invensys is demonstrating new Field Device Tool-based software for the I/A Series system that provides a common environment for configuring, diagnosing and supporting HART and other intelligent field devices from Foxboro and other instrument vendors.

New Fault-tolerant FOUNDATION Fieldbus Modules for I/A Series Demonstrated

The optionally redundant/fault-tolerant FOUNDATION Fieldbus I/O modules give customers maximum protection against any fault and provide a highly secure, nonstop process control environment.

Invensys - Stratus Agreement

Invensys is now offering Wonderware software support of the Stratus ftServer system running supervisory and plant intelligence applications that are built on ArchestrA technology - specifically Industrial SQL Historian and Industrial Application Server. The Stratus ftServers are Intel processor-based and designed expressly for critical processes and operations where business continuity, continuous information access and application availability are essential. Stratus servers offer better than 99.999 percent uptime performance on both the hardware platform and the Microsoft Windows server operating system.

Free ArchestrA Technology Test Drive

By accessing a Wonderware FactorySuite A2 application example built on ArchestrA technology from a website- customers, systems integrators and original equipment manufacturers can experience first hand how to set up and install a system network, create supervisory control applications and re-use templates for a plant-centric, modular approach to application development.

Next Generation Plant Performance Strategies

Invensys will host a meeting at ISA of users, process manufacturers and industry analysts to discuss a recent survey of customers, conducted in conjunction with ARC, that showed that process industry automation users are unhappy with current plant production management strategies. The Strategic Advisory Board meeting participants will consider how the next generation of plant production solutions can provide more value.
