UK-based antenna specialist Sarantel has been included by leading US electronics design publication EDN in its assessment roundup of the 100 hot products for 2003. Additionally, Sarantel has also been chosen by Real Business magazine as one of "the brightest hopes in the UK today" in its annual 50 companies to watch feature.

Barrie Foley, Sarantel CEO, was enthusiastic about the kudos and said, "The team worked really hard to enhance Sarantel's commercial success in 2003. To gain these two major listings from the press is really gratifying. The fact that our antenna technology has been recognised by both technical and business press proves that our products are hitting the spot and solving customer needs at every level."

The EDN 100 hot products roundup includes devices and products selected from the world's biggest names in electronic component manufacture, design and test. Bill Schweber, EDN's Executive Editor states, "The old rule was that if you wanted a better antenna, you had to put up more metal, but that approach is no longer is acceptable or necessary in our portable-product world, as vendors develop new technologies based on monolithic and multilayer ceramics. Sarantel's active and passive helix antennas, available for GPS, cellular, 3G, 802.11, and Bluetooth bands, give you electrical and mechanical advantages at modest cost."

In its December 2003 edition, Real Business lists Sarantel as one of the "Fifty fantastic firms" to watch in 2004 alongside other exciting UK firms that includes those involved with bone graft technology, organic baby food, TV gambling and chocolate puddings. Real Business is the UK's leading magazine for growing companies and has become the voice of modern, entrepreneurial Britain; it is read regularly by over 40,000 business people.
