PRODUCTION IS ALREADY UNDERWAY IN BÉTHUNE, FRANCE
05 October 2004 - Lenze Limited
| A traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday 5 October to mark the start of operations at the new Lenze Group electronics production site, located in the industrial region of Ruitz, near Béthune. Over 200 guests attended the opening ceremony. Lenze, the drive and automation technology specialist based in Hamelin, Germany, has invested around 2.5 million Euro in the site in northern France with this project. The new assembly plant for servo and frequency inverters has been equipped with state-of-the-art assembly lines. |
Production in Béthune is already underway. "Following the installation of the first assembly line in April, the first frequency inverters left the line in May. Production has gone very well", said Uwe Behme, Managing Director of Lenze Drive Systems France. The project, a collaboration between Lenze and the Béthune Chamber of Commerce, was completed in only eight months. The foundations for this were laid by Artois Comm and NFX, a business development organisation. Production is also about to start on the second production line, which boasts extremely flexible assembly cells. "We have an excellent set-up in Béthune, which reflects the international orientation of our company. Lenze sees France as an important market for drive and automation technology products", said Dr. Erhard Tellbüscher, Chairman of Lenze AG. Béthune's motorway links within France, as well as to Belgium, Great Britain and the Netherlands, ensure that Lenze customers within the main sales market of Western Europe are within easy reach. Products are marketed via the extensive distribution network of Lenze's French subsidiary, based in Aulnay (Val de Marne). The Chairman used the opening ceremony as an opportunity to thank those employees whose commitment had ensured that the project was completed in record time. He said that co-operation between the new French workers and those from the German headquarters had been excellent and was worthy of note. "An intensive training programme took place at the German site, and the cross-border co-operation worked very well. Of course, the company's goals were at the heart of all our actions. The language barrier presented hardly any problems at all", said a satisfied Uwe Behme. With this new production site, Lenze Drive Systems, the main production arm of the Lenze Group, has significantly increased its capacity. Risk management considerations also had a role to play in the decision set up a new production site. The goal now is rapid further growth, backed up by the highest standards of quality.
