Greater vibration resistance, more protection against corrosion and improved heat dissipation, these are the benefits of stator encapsulation from Lenze. The Hamelin-based company is using new technology for its MCS range of synchronous servo motors.

Motors last longer with encapsulation technology. Even severe vibration does not wear away the insulation from the coated copper, so avoiding the risk of winding failure. What's more, encapsulated stators, unlike open windings, are protected against mositure or corrosive vapours. Finally, the encapsulating compound produces a marked improvement in heat dissipation from inside the motor, leading to increased power density and overload capacity.

MCS servo motors provide maximum torque and high dynamics with the endurance of a marathon runner, ideal for applications in industrial handling and robotics. The novel SEpT design (Single Element Pole Technology) of the motors with significantly higher copper fill levels combined with high-energy neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets produces a distortion-free, purely sinusoidal working field. The result at the motor shaft is high efficiency, excellent smooth running characteristics and maximum power density with no disruptive detent torques. The compact MCS series covers a torque range from 0.5 to 190Nm.
