COMPACT SERVO PLANETARY GEARBOXES WITH HIGH OVERLOAD CAPACITY

The new planetary gearboxes for servo applications are convincing in their compact design. Together with the new motors of the "MCS" series, they turn into compact drive units. This gives design engineers considerably more freedom to optimaly fit the geared motors into their systems.

Lenze has consistently used backlash-free fixings in their gearboxes. In that way, there are no fitted keys to give play in continuously reversing operation - the backlash is thus influenced for the most part only by the tooth system. The planetary gearboxes achieve a backlash of between three and eight arc minutes. The connection to the motors avoids keyway connection and focuses instead on special friction connection clamping hubs, slotted on both sides to avoid imbalance. The extremely compact MCS servo motors achieve a high power density and at the same time true running characteristics by means of low cogging torques.

The motors can be quickly mounted using standard tools or exchanged for maintenance. Furthermore, all the electrical connections are designed to be pluggable. This saves both time and money, improving profitability. Lenze has designed the MCS servo motors for the needs of the automobile industry with its requirements for a long operating life, efficiency and ease of maintenance. The servo system will communicate with all the current fieldbus systems by means of the matched "ECS" series servo controllers, which amongst other things achieve as much as a three-fold overload capacity. The wiring in the control cabinet is kept to a minimum by means of the DC bus connections and a central power supply module.
