Gas Technology Institute and The Network of Excellence in Training announced today that they have formed an alliance to market and deliver comprehensive energy industry training to the natural gas sector.

Through this agreement, NExT and GTI will identify opportunities to provide clients with complete training solutions in the areas of finding, developing, producing, processing, and distributing natural gas and LNG.

"By combining NExT's experience and expertise in offering training on upstream topics and GTI's world-renowned downstream courses and certification programs, we're able to provide the energy industry with comprehensive professional development, from the wellhead to the burner tip," said Michael Dugan, executive director of education, Gas Technology Institute.

NExT program director Ron Carter noted that there has been an increasing interest in training focused on the exploitation of natural gas.

"Many of our international oil and gas producer clients who are beginning to focus on developing their natural gas resources have asked for all-inclusive training programs that cover technical issues from the reservoir through the distribution system," said Ron Carter, program director, NExT. "The NExT/GTI team can now provide this specialized service to the industry."

Courses offered by both organizations include scheduled open-enrollment classes, courses delivered at clients' facilities, CD-ROM, and Internet-based self-study programs. Courses and longer-term training programs can also be customized to meet clients' specific operations and procedures.

Gas Technology Institute is an independent, not-for-profit organization that provides research, development, deployment, and training to the natural gas industry. With more than 60 years of experience in developing technology solutions, disseminating information, and providing training, GTI works with the industry to ensure safe and environmentally sensitive production, delivery, and use of natural gas.

NExT, The Network of Excellence in Training, was established in 2000 as a consortium of Heriot-Watt University in Scotland, Texas A&M University, The University of Oklahoma, and Schlumberger Oilfield Services. NExT has developed unique, advanced project-based training and competency assessment services for oil and gas industry organizations.
