GE DIGITAL ENERGY INTRODUCES THE ADVANCED POWER SYSTEM
18 June 2002 - GE Industrial Systems
| GE Digital Energy, a division of GE Industrial Systems, today introduced its Advanced Power System (APS), a pre-engineered, pre-assembled and pre-tested system delivering highly reliable premium power for mission critical applications. The APS is a self-contained, virtual plug-and-play power quality solution that focuses on the interconnection of the utility to the critical load. Designed to minimize field installation and operational requirements, the APS operates automatically under self-contained controls with seamless integration to a facility. |
By combining power generation, conditioning and energy storage along with all the ancillary electrical distribution equipment, the APS solves a complex power problem with a level of simplicity never before seen in the market. 'The introduction of the APS signifies an important milestone in the delivery of reliable premium power and service performance in the critical power industry,' said Jim Shepard, president, GE Digital Energy. 'This is really the first time operations with mission critical power needs - such as data centers, hospitals, high-tech manufacturing and others - can deploy an innovative and sophisticated premium power solution quickly and efficiently.' The APS is designed for a variety of applications that isolate the critical load from all instantaneous power disturbances and outages. The integrated control system continually monitors the incoming power source for a fault condition, and when power becomes unstable, the APS ensures uninterrupted premium power in a series of split-second steps. The advanced engineering of the APS, combined with the pre-packaging and commissioning in the factory, reduces the impact on facility design, construction schedules and infrastructure requirements. Additional benefits of the APS include: Modular design providing flexibility and scalability Lower installed and operating costs Lower and predictable life cycle costs Integrated remote monitoring and diagnostic system Capital optimization for growing a facility's power capacity & reliability
