ROSEMOUNT ANALYTICAL TOROIDAL CONDUCTIVITY SENSOR IS RELIABLE IN TOUGH CIP ENVIRONMENT
27 April 2005 - Emerson Process Management
| To meet the unique requirements of Clean-In-Place liquid analysis for the pharmaceutical industry, Emerson Process Management has introduced a new toroidal conductivity sensor, the Rosemount Analytical Model 225-08. The CIP sensor is comprised of a pair of wire-wound metal toroids overmolded with a special grade of PEEK (polyetheretherketone) material. The raw materials have been tested and certified based on U.S.P. Class VI Biological Reactivity Tests. Complete material traceability for the wetted materials of this sensor helps streamline the validation process for its use by pharmaceutical companies. |
According to Dave Anderson, pharmaceutical industry manager at the Rosemount Analytical division of Emerson, "Our CIP toroidal conductivity sensors are ideal for use in concentrations of acids, alkalis and rinse waters, which are often used in the pharmaceutical cleaning process. It is a robust sensor designed to withstand the rigors of clean-in-place." "The sensor can be easily integrated into the DeltaV digital automation system that powers Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture," continued Anderson. "PlantWeb's continuous on-line diagnostics deliver predictive intelligence that helps simplify validation as well as enable predictive maintenance." To ensure effective CIP sanitizing without wasting chemicals, it is critical to monitor the cleaning solution strength. The Model 225-08 sanitary conductivity sensor is an ideal choice for this measurement since conductivity provides a direct correlation to concentration. The sensor offers a wide conductivity range from 200 uS/cm up to 2 S/cm, and also incorporates an integral temperature sensor for temperature compensation.
