Linux is a popular choice for developers creating high availability communication and server solutions. To accelerate your Linux development cycle, Arcom has introduced a ready-to-run Linux Development Kit for the APOLLO, a Pentium M based single board computer designed for applications demanding long term product availability and high performance fanless operation. The APOLLO is built on power efficient Intel Centrino technology using an industry standard EBX form factor (8" x 5.75"). The Development Kit offers a highly cost effective solution for developers, saving months of effort and allowing engineers to concentrate on value-added application development. The APOLLO Development Kit for Linux is built on a standard Fedora Core 3 Linux (v2.6 kernel) distribution and includes all the board specific drivers pre-installed on an industrial grade CompactFlash memory card. The Development Kit bundles the APOLLO single board computer fitted with a 1.6GHz Pentium M CPU, 512Mbytes of DDR memory, Gigabit Ethernet and the 1GByte CompactFlash card. Also included is an AC Flex-ATX PSU, full cable set, Quickstart Manual, Development Kit DVD, USB/CF programming adapter, and an optional panel mounted 15 inch TFT color LCD touchscreen display. The APOLLO is an industry standard format (5.75" x 8") single board computer which includes dual independent display capability, dual Ethernet, dual FireWire (IEEE 1394a) ports, six USB 2.0 channels and four serial ports (RS-232/RS-422/RS-485). Based on a variety of benchmarks, standard tests demonstrate that an APOLLO fitted with a 1.6GHz Pentium M CPU offers comparable performance to a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 desktop yet, consumes only one third of the power! Arcom has a dedicated team of Linux developers located in Kansas City and Cambridge who are focused on new product development and technical support. This technical resource is also available as a Design Service to provide optimized implementations of embedded Linux and to support customer specific driver/application requirements.
