Headquartered in Ecublens, near Lausanne, Switzerland, AKAtech specializes in leading-edge machine-vision sensors and cameras, high-quality lightings and advanced hardware and software to deliver best-engineered solutions for quality control, identification and control manufacturing processes.

Founded in the late 80's, AKAtech began first to serve the international postal administrations and OEM of sorting machines by providing them high-end vision systems for postage detection and recognition. The company's know-how in the field of high-speed image, data processing and CMOS image sensor integration allowed then to rapidly expand its activities to other markets and industries, such as pharmaceutical, packaging and manufacturing industries. In July 2003, AKAtech consolidated its position as a major player on the machine vision market by acquiring the camera division of Fastcom Technology, with which the company had previously collaborated in the development of new CMOS cameras. Now a day, AKAtech has reached a successful track record, and has become an established supplier to leading international companies. And the future looks fine, with innovative signal processing concepts and new products to meet the daily and future needs of AKAtech's customers.

The current product range of AKAtech is composed of two groups. The application-specific solution are supplied to OEM and End-users and are designed to provide user-friendly and cost-effective smart vision solutions for task-specific applications, such as high-speed products sorting, codes identification, Data Matrix and 2D Codes reading, postage patterns detection and recognition and assembly verification.

The group of machine-vision components include intelligent CMOS cameras, embedded software, lightings and other related accessories that are supplied to OEM and System integrators, who integrate them in their high performance machine vision applications.

The Engineering Services group offer development and integration services to both OEM and End-users and develop customized turn-key solutions based either on the AKAtech's intelligent CMOS cameras or on third party hardware when required by the application specifications.

AKAtech employs today a staff of about 15 highly-qualified people, whose main competences include embedded electronics design, FPGA integration, embedded and PC-based software development, illumination units and mechanical design.

AKAtech sells its machine vision products and solutions around the world through excellent local suppliers and distributors, while large volume products manufacturing is made in strong collaboration with major leading-edge partners.
