WesternGeco selected by Petrobras to acquire Q-Marine Seismic data

11 November 2004 - Schlumberger WesternGeco announced today that it was selected by Petrobras to acquire and process Q-Marine seismic data over the Marlim complex, offshore Brazil. The 1520-square-kilometer, five-month survey began in October. The Marlim complex, comprising the Marlim, Marlim East and Marlim South fields, is the largest deepwater producer of oil and gas in the world. The Q-Technology vessel Western Pride, towing 10 x 6000-meter cables with 50-meter streamer separation, will be used to acquire the Marlim survey. This survey will comprise the baseline against which future surveys will be compared to monitor fluid movement for reservoir characterization and asset management.

Kuala Lumpur students learn aboout water culture

25 October 2004 - Schlumberger Secondary school students from two Kuala Lumpur schools recently learned about water culture and hygiene through a two-week water issues program sponsored by Schlumberger Excellence in Educational Development (SEED). The learning while doing program immersed the 15- to 17-year-old students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pandan Indah and Sekolah Menengah (L) Methodist, Sentul, for a week each. 28 September 2004 - Schlumberger Schlumberger Oilfield Services announced today that it has extended its Fiber Assisted Transport hydraulic fracturing technology to enhance proppant distribution in wells with temperatures ranging from 150°F to 400°F. Successful applications of this technology throughout the North America tight gas market have resulted in approximately 100 treatments pumped thus far in 2004. In a recent East Texas study, average daily production rates were increased by 100% over the first three months of production as compared to conventionally treated offset wells. This yielded an incremental 54 MMSCF from the Fiber Assisted Transport treated well over the same three-month period.

03 May 2004 - Schlumberger Schlumberger Oilfield Services today announced the launch of its FloScan Imager horizontal and deviated well production logging system. The system is optimized for three-phase production logging that provides customers with a complete flow analysis of complex downhole environments. The FloScan Imager system is designed to run eccentralized, or against the wellbore wall, facilitating its conveyance in highly deviated and horizontal wells. This ensures proper deployment of its sensors across the vertical axis and allows measurements of each phase velocity and holdup. Conventional production logging tools were developed for vertical or near-vertical wells and therefore cannot give effective answers when confronted with the complex flow environment of highly deviated wells.

Hydro Selects WesternGeco for North Sea Q-Marine Survey

The Duke of York Visits the Schlumberger Drilling Technology Center

21 January 2004 - Schlumberger Schlumberger Oilfield Services today hosted His Royal Highness The Duke of York at its Global Drilling Technology Center in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. The Duke of York visited the facility in his capacity as the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. Last year, Schlumberger designated the Stonehouse Drilling Technology Center as its main production facility for downhole drilling systems and power sources. Since then the facility on the Stroudwater Industrial Estate has rapidly expanded, from 80 employees in late 2002 to 140 employees currently. In June 2003, Schlumberger commissioned a new plant at the site to design and manufacture state-of-the-art downhole power sources for drilling tools. Expansion continues, with a further 27,000-square-foot facility scheduled to open later this year, bringing an additional 80 jobs to the Stonehouse site.
