Taper-Grip Keyless Bushing Offer 300% More Torque Transfer
30 August 2005 - Wyko Industrial Services
Using a traditional keyed fitting to mount pulleys and shaft mounted gearboxes is commonly accepted as a crude method of securing power transmission equipment; It is time consuming to install and allows fretting corrosion that often leads to difficulties should the unit need to be removed for service or replacement. Using a simple friction bushing type system can alleviate the problem of removal, but does not usually allow for high torque operation.

Fans, Pumps & HVAC Systems Receive An Efficiency Boost From Belt Drive
31 May 2005 - Wyko Industrial Services
With the advent of higher energy costs and Enhanced Capital Allowances, energy efficiency has been a hot topic. Many examples are given where small percentage increases in efficiency can reduce long term energy usage and provide substantial financial savings. Fans, pumps and HVAC systems are obvious targets since they tend to be run constantly and so provide the most visible savings. When all the focus is on equipment such as inverter drives and motors however, it is easy to overlook other elements in a power transmission system and their contribution towards energy efficiency.

Drive Down Electronic Failures
16 May 2005 - Wyko Industrial Services
Most modern electronic drives have a finite life of around 40,000 hours or 5 years of continuous operation before performance begins to degrade and they become likely to stop working. Environmental factors such as excess heat due to poor ventilation can then cut that life expectancy by half. The result is that many drives fitted during 1999 or before therefore have a high potential for failure.
Pneumatic Ram System To Keep Hare Krishna Chariot On Course
27 April 2005 - Wyko Industrial Services
WYKO Industrial Services has recently helped to design and supply an automated system for erecting a mobile temple for the UK's Hare Krishna headquarters. The original design required operators to slowly raise and lower a 20ft column manually using a hand turned crank, whereas the new pneumatic raising and lowering system quickly raises the temple dome to it's full height, enabling obstacles to be quickly avoided and events easier to set up. WYKO supplied a pair of custom 80mm bore cylinders complete with control gear that provide 2m of extension in order to erect the 3-stage pergola and the package was also delivered within the tight ten-day time frame set for the project.
Electric Motors - Repair Vs Replace
